Construction starts on the pavilion facility

06.12.2011

A pavilion facility is being set up in Altkönigblick to care for 84 children from age 3 to 6. The child care centre is being built as part as part of Riedberg's urban development measures. It is a temporary facility in order to meet the acute and sizeable demand for child care places at the moment. This elevated need is a reflection of how many young families have moved to Riedberg of late.

Building of the new day care centre will commence on the 8th of December and should be finished in the spring of 2012. The lead time on the project is so short because of using a very efficient modular means of construction. The centre will be on a 3,000 sqm site to the north of Altenhöferallee, across from the new sports centre and was designed by "s d k s" from Darmstadt.

The group rooms are going to be arranged as a H shaped floor plan over three wings. There is a courtyard, which is sheltered from the wind on the south side. The individual groups have been given their own section of garden. They are surrounded by hedges, sand boxes and play areas. Wide ranging sight relationships are created with the outside world through large glass elements.

The new approach from Altenhöferallee to the north has already been started and after excavation is finished we'll see the individual room modules starting to arrive on site. They in turn will be shaped into a complete building. The quality of the insulation is so high that the building qualifies as a low-energy house under the current energy-saving regulations (EnEV).

The project is being realised as part of Riedberg's urban development measures and the project management is being carried out by HA Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH on behalf of the city of Frankfurt am Main.
